AirVenture 2026: Building the Seattle World Cruiser

Thu, Jul 23 · 2:30 PM3:45 PM (Central — Chicago)
Forum Stage 8 Sponsored By GAMA, EAA AirVenture, Wittman Regional Airport, Oshkosh, WI 54902

In 2001, Bob Dempster and a small group of volunteers started building a full-scale, flying reproduction of the 1924 Douglas World Cruiser, the first airplane to fly around the world, on display at EAA. Old and new technologies were used, plus research, collecting, rebuilding, operating, and flight-testing 1918 Liberty V-12 aero engines. Watch the aircraft grow in size and complexity for land and sea operations. Many contributors and volunteers deserve recognition for making this project possible.
