West Desert Airpark's annual Fall Fly-In returns on Saturday 17 October 2026, run by the West Desert Aviators. Fly in or drive in — both are welcome. ARRIVALS WINDOW: aircraft arrive between 07:30 and 09:45. Main events run 10:00 to 13:00. Plan to be on the ground inside that window rather than arriving mid-morning, since the flying displays start once arrivals close. On the programme: a spot landing contest for arriving aircraft, formation flying fly-overs, skywriting, skydiving, STOL and RC demonstrations, a candy parachute drop, the annual pumpkin bombing, pumpkin painting, aircraft displays, car exhibits and food trucks. LANDING FEES ARE WAIVED for the fly-in. West Desert normally charges a landing fee, so that is a genuine concession rather than a turn of phrase. Flying in, and this field deserves a proper plan: • Runway 17​/​35, 5,200 feet by 60 feet, asphalt, listed in good condition. Plenty of length, but 60 feet is narrow. • Field elevation is 4,886 feet. On a warm October afternoon density altitude can sit well above 6,000 feet, so work your takeoff and climb numbers for the conditions on the day rather than sea-level figures. • Fuel on the field is MOGAS only. There is no 100LL and no Jet A. If your aircraft needs avgas, plan to arrive with enough to get home or to a fuel stop. The airpark is privately owned.
