Our Story
Skyfarer Academy was born from the shared vision of aviation enthusiasts and seasoned pilots, including our co-founders Todd Davis and Nick Tsang. All share a passion for aviation and understand the challenges pilots face in finding quality training and guidance. Recognizing the diverse needs of aspiring and experienced aviators, the Skyfarer team sets out to create a centralized platform that delivers personalized training tailored to every pilot’s journey.
From RC Planes to Airlines
Aviation is in Todd's blood. As far back as he can remember, his parents would say that all he ever talked about was airplanes. At the age of 12, Todd started building gas-powered remote-control aircraft, and by 14, he took his first flight lesson. He soloed at 16 and earned his private pilot's license at 17. From there, he quickly completed his instrument, commercial, multi-engine, and flight instructor certificates.
His first airline interview was with CommutAir in August 2001. We all know what happened to the world and the aviation industry shortly after that. Todd continued flight instructing for another five years before moving to the great Pacific Northwest. There, he began flying Cessna Caravans, Twin Otters, and King Airs. In 2019, he joined Horizon Airlines to fly the Q400 and later upgraded to Captain on the Embraer 175 before becoming a First Officer on the Boeing 737 with Alaska Airlines.
