Mineola, TX Young Eagles Rally at Wood County Airport
Mineola/Quitman, TX — 8/22/26 — Individuals aged 8 to 17 in the region are invited to participate in complimentary introductory airplane rides, offered by local pilots. The event, “Young Eagles Rally” is hosted by Wood County’s Experimental Aircraft Association’s Chapter 1475 at the Wood County Airport in Mineola, TX.
It is scheduled to take place May 23rd, beginning at 8:30AM – 12:00PM.
The EAA Young Eagles Program is designed to introduce youth ages 8-17 to the world of aviation by offering opportunities such as taking a flight with a volunteer pilot, learning about aircraft operation, and exploring aviation careers through hands-on activities. Through these experiences, participants gain a firsthand view of aviation, encouraging curiosity about science and technology, and inspiring confidence for future educational and career choices.
The Young Eagles flight experience starts with a short ground school introduction to aviation, followed by a preflight briefing with your pilot. Next, you'll enjoy a 15- to 20-minute flight over the local area. After landing, you'll receive a certificate signed not only by your pilot but also by legendary air show pilot Sean D. Tucker and NFL All-Pro Jimmy Graham, making it a memorable keepsake. Your official Young Eagles logbook includes a personal code for complimentary EAA Student Membership and exclusive access to Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course, giving you valuable resources to continue your aviation journey.
Parents can register their youth at https://eaachapters.org/event-details/MT36336GA. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with further instructions.
Today, nearly 2.5 million young people have enjoyed a free introductory flight through the Young Eagles program. These flights are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. More than 50,000 pilots and 50,000 ground volunteers have made this program possible, introducing young people to the world of flight and sparking an interest for thousands of them to discover more about aviation. More information is available at EAA.org/YoungEagles.
This is merely the first step of an EAA sponsored "Flight Path" program that offers many financial aid benefits to participating kids to pique their interest and possibly begin their aviation career path.
