EAA 782 Aug. Evening Flights
Pearson Field in just east of I-5 and Vancouver near the fort Vancouver Historical Park and visible from SR-14 at the Columbia River. The flights are staged out of the Center for Airway Sciences hangar just east of the main gate by Aero Maintenance that has a large red and white Navy training plane in front of it. All flights originate and end at Pearson Field and all flying is northward over Clark County and are roughly 30-45 minutes in duration. Note these are intended as initial orientation flights with preferences given to youth who have never flown or have flown in a small airplane before. As such a youth who has flown in the program previously will fly after first timers after they have been given an opportunity. All registered Young Eagles will fly but depending on the number of airplanes and type available for that night not all Young Eagles will have the opportunity to fly at the controls as only two of the seats in a four-place plane have them. But older youth are encouraged to fly the airplane as much as possible but note that all flying is under the direct control of the pilot who is the sole authority in the conduct of the flight while the airplane is flying or during ground operations. Flight operations begin promptly at 5 PM at Pearson and students are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes early but flights are on a first-come-first-served basis. At the end of the flight young eagles will receive their Young Eagles flight log with their individual code that enables them to… · Become free EAA members. · Allows them free access to the Sporty’s on-line ground school that when completed, allows them to take the FAA private pilot test. · With the FAA test passed, the student will receive a voucher to pay for the FAA test and another for their first hour of dual instruction at any local flight school.
