i obtained the private pilot certificate in a Citabria 7GCAA in 1979. Over the past 40 years of flying, I have gained experience 38 different single engine aircraft and 4 different multi-engine aircraft. I have been a DME (Designated Mechanic Examiner) since 2003. In the past, I managed a small airport in Northwest Louisiana for about five years while also providing pilot and maintenance services. I spent 4 years active duty in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve with experience maintaining A7 and P3 aircraft, with over 13 years in the Flight Engineer position on the P3. I am a member of the Keystone Heights Airport Authority and spend as much time as possible fabricating parts for my Bearhawk 4-place experimental project. ​ I have been an aircraft owner for over 36 years, and hold the following FAA certificates; Ground and Flight Instructor, with single-engine land, single-engine sea, multi-engine land, and instrument ratings, and A&P with IA. I have served on the FAA Airman Certification Standards Working Group committee and have given maintenance and safety presentations at Sun-N-Fun and IA Seminars.
