More about me: Lonnie Robinson is a retired American Airlines pilot with over 30 years of duties and responsibilities as a captain in FAA part 121 operations. He has a bachelor's degree with teaching certification from Morehouse College and a Master of Aeronautical Science and Master of Business Administration in Aviation degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He has served as an adjunct professor in college programs in aviation and non-aviation curriculum. Lonnie’s flight experience totals over 20,000 hours flight time that includes both military and commercial airlines. In military service, he flew the T-37, T-38, A-7, OV-10 and OA-37 aircrafts. Thereafter he gained employment with US Air and earned the flight engineer turbojet rating. He has also earned ATP ratings on the B-737, DC-9​/​MD-80, B-757​/​767, A-319​/​320​/​321, and the A-330. Lonnie has the distinction of being one of the few, if not the only pilot in the United States to have been involved in the development and implementation of a major airline's comprehensive and validated pilot selection process from conception to full implementation in the commercial aviation industry. He also served for more than 10 years as a Check Airman with US Airways with an additional 10,000+ hours of simulator training and evaluating events. In addition to his employment in the aviation industry, Lonnie is a current CFI​/​CFII and the Chairman of Angels Over Atlanta, Inc (AOA); a mentoring organization for youths and adults aspiring to become professionals in the field of aviation. AOA provides professional aviation​/​pilot services and compassion flights throughout the United States.
