Young Eagles Rally Chapter 43, Erie CO

Sat, Aug 15 · 7:30 AM10:00 AM (Mountain — Denver)
Erie Municipal Airport (KEIK), 395 Airport Drive, Erie, CO 80516

Trying to improve the registration process. The EAA has given us a tool to limit frequent flyers. We have used it for the last 2 Rallies. I have mixed feeling’s about the functionality of the tool. I may ask that some frequent flyers move to the waitlist and allow kids with no flights a flight slot for the rally. Last year we had everyone sign-up on the waitlist. This worked very well. After the close of registration, I would then assign kids that have never flown before a flight slot. Filling up the remainder of the slots with our frequent flyers. The downside is that the kids with numerous flights have less priority for flights. Once you press the register button. The next page is your confirmation, your now on the waitlist. Do not print out the waiver until you get the email informing that you've been moved to the flight roster. Find the Waiver link, Find the Waiver, print it out, sign it (signed by a parent or legal guardian) and bring it to the Rally. This will have your child's ID number. For multiple kids. One form per child. This saves paperwork for you and me. You don't need to fill out the registration form at the Rally with your printed waiver form. But we still have permission and release forms that will be provided when you arrive at the airport and must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Once you arrive at the airport, the completed form has been accepted, and your child(ren) is registered, your child(ren)’s name will be added to the next available slot for a flight. The order of flights is a first come first serve basis. Our goal is to complete all flights before 11:30 am. Note I put our closing time as 9:30 am. In previous years we had several families that showed up as we were closing down. We are Volunteers, once all kids have flown we close down and go home. Please be at the airport before 9:30 am. While waiting for your flight, a stationary airplane may be available to demonstrate aerodynamics and the operations of an airplane. For yours and your child(ren)s safety, a presenter will escort small groups into the static aircraft display area to get a close-up view of the aircraft. This is a great time to ask questions regarding aviation. A drop-in ground school is typically available where airport safety and an introduction to aerodynamics are taught. When it is time for your child’s flight, your child will be introduced to their pilot and escorted to the aircraft. Each pilot will assist your child into the aircraft and secure your child with the appropriate seat belts. Each Young Eagle flight is approximately 20 minutes in length.  Upon returning to the airport, your child will receive a certificate signed by the pilot. They will also receive their very own logbook with a record of their Young Eagles flight. A coupon for accessing Sporty’s online Private Pilot training course for free will be provided to each child. Please note that we may have to cancel flights on the day of the event due to weather or lack of volunteer pilots. Should a rally need to be canceled, we will attempt to reschedule the rally, and you will be contacted via e-mail when a new date has been set.
