Designated Pilot Examiner - George Brown

Designated Pilot Examiner - George Brown

Pat was bitten by the flying bug early and began taking lessons at age 16, earning his Private Pilot license shortly after his 17th birthday. Today, 11,000+ hours later, he holds a Commercial Pilot certificate for Gliders, Single-Engine Land/Seaplane, and Multi-Engine Land aircraft and is a Gold Seal Flight Instructor for gliders, single and multi-engine aircraft, with nearly 6000 hours of instruction given. He is also a Designated Pilot Examiner and recipient of the FAA’s Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award. Pat is the co-developer of AOPA’s Rusty Pilot and Back To Your Roots seminars and presents them regularly, both as online live webinars and in-person to enthusiastic audiences. He currently serves as AOPA’s “mentor” to the organization’s 140 flight training scholarship recipients. IMPORTANT!!! At this point, all NOVEMBER 2025 dates are full. I'll start accepting check ride applications for DECEMBER 2025 on NOVEMBER 1st. If you submit a request via email, you will receive an automated response asking you to resubmit your request on NOVEMBER 1st. It's the only response you will receive prior to that date. URGENT. PLEASE READ! Effective immediately, check ride fee will be forfeited if the scheduled check ride can't take place because of logbook discrepancies/mistakes that affect eligibility. Rescheduling will require payment of a 2nd full fee. This is happening with increasing frequency. Applicants, it is YOUR responsibility along with that of your instructor, to insure the accuracy of your logbook! ========================================== As you can imagine, the FAA is quite specific in its requirements for a check ride. They are also quite specific as to what we, as DPEs, must do prior to doing check rides. There are four application forms below. Please be sure to select the correct one, complete it and return it to me. ========================================== Read the instructions CAREFULLY. If any information is missing, or illegible, it will only delay the process! I will reply via email with a suggested date/time. Once confirmed, I will send you an email with your cross-country, or other, assignment(s). Scroll down to the next section for some helpful hints on how to prepare for your ride.
