During the Cold War, the U.S. defended our Allies in Western Europe and Asia against attack by the Soviet Union. These defense forces were to detect and respond to an air or ground attack across the borders between those Allies and the Communist countries. These forces included those to deliver nuclear weapons, which also created deterrence to such an attack. This session focuses on the evolution of the tactical aircraft involved from the end of WWII through the Vietnam War.
