Skyfarer Concierge: CFI Matching & Availability Support

Students and pilots often fail because they can’t find a CFI who will actually respond, and is a fit for their situation. Having facilitated and introduced hundreds of CFIs, Skyfarer helps pilots move past uncertainty and connect with instructors who are actually available.

Finding a CFI is harder than it should be

The internet is full of flight instructor directories. But many of those listings are outdated. At least 70% of CFIs eventually progress in their careers and no longer actively instruct, yet their profiles often remain online for years.

CFIs Don’t Respond

Pilots often reach out to multiple instructors and hear nothing back, wasting days or weeks with no clear next step.

Listed CFIs Aren’t Actually Available

Many CFIs shown online are no longer taking students, teach only part-time, or are booked months out.

Time-Sensitive Deadlines

Flight reviews, IPCs, insurance requirements, and checkride prep often come with firm timelines that pilots can’t miss.

Scheduling Conflicts

Pilots balancing work, family, weather windows, and aircraft availability often struggle to align schedules with instructors.

Aircraft-Specific Training Needs

Not every CFI is current or comfortable in specific aircraft types, especially less common or complex aircraft.

Overwhelming Choice

Seeing dozens of CFIs nearby without knowing who’s relevant or responsive can be more frustrating than helpful.

Unclear Scope of Instruction

Pilots aren’t always sure whether a CFI offers flight reviews, IPCs, endorsements, or specialized training.

Geography Creates False Confidence

What looks like many CFIs nearby often turns into one or two at a specific airport—even then, availability and fit are uncertain.

Momentum Loss

Every delay increases the chance that pilots postpone training, lose proficiency, or disengage altogether.

Pilots often lose weeks just trying to confirm availability—especially for flight reviews, IPCs, aircraft-specific training, or time-sensitive needs. Skyfarer’s CFI Matching & Availability Concierge exists to remove these bottlenecks by confirming availability, filtering for fit, and making direct introductions—so pilots can move forward with confidence.

How the Find CFI Concierge Works

Skyfarer facilitates the connection—you choose how to proceed.

Start here

1. Tell us about your situation and need

Complete a short request form with your airport(s), training stage, aircraft type, schedule, and specific goals.

The more context you provide, the better we can narrow down instructors who are realistically able to help.

2. Identify and check availability

Our team manually reviews your request and contacts the relevant CFIs to confirm whether they are instructing and available.

This helps eliminate one of the most frustrating parts of the process: unanswered messages and uncertainty.

3. We make direct introductions

If one or more CFIs confirm interest, we’ll introduce you so you can connect, discuss details, and decide how to move forward.

If we’re unable to identify at least five available CFIs, your one-time matching support fee is fully refunded.

Why Skyfarer can do this effectively

With the recent acquisition, Skyfarer is now a platform with thousands of CFI users. This expanded instructor network gives us deeper coverage across Regions, Aircraft types, Instructor backgrounds. Combined with Skyfarer’s active marketplace, this allows us to surface more realistic availability than directories alone. If you need help finding available CFIs, submit your request below.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How is this different from searching flight instructor listings myself?
Listings show who might be nearby. The Concierge helps confirm who is instructing, responsive, and potentially available for your specific needs—especially helpful when time matters or options are limited at a specific airport. In addition, our team may also go beyond the Skyfarer platform to search for and contact relevant CFIs.

  • What if I already reached out to instructors on my own?
That’s common. The Skyfarer Representative can still help by checking availability with a more targeted set of flight instructors or confirming whether anyone is able to help.

  • Can you also help find flight schools?
Yes. Skyfarer partners with Flycore, a flight school CRM platform used by hundreds of schools nationwide, to help connect students and pilots with flight schools near them. This service is free. You can submit it directly through the flight school matching landing page, and they’ll help route the inquiry to relevant schools. We also include this option on the CFI Matching & Availability Request form.

  • Why does Skyfarer have access to so many instructors?
Skyfarer recently acquired InstructAir, a platform with thousands of instructor profiles, and operates an active aviation training marketplace. This allows us to better identify potential matches across regions, airports, and training needs.

  • Why isn’t the CFI Matching & Availability Concierge free?
This service involves hands-on, manual work by our team. Each request is individually reviewed, followed by targeted outreach to CFIs to check availability, confirm fit, and coordinate introductions. This process takes time, and the one-time fee helps cover the operational effort involved. We keep the fee intentionally low and offer a full refund if we’re unable to identify any available CFI.

  • Do you assign or recommend instructors?
No. Skyfarer does not assign instructors or guarantee outcomes. We facilitate introductions, and pilots coordinate directly with instructors to decide how to proceed.

  • Will I receive the instructor’s contact information?
Yes. When a CFI confirms interest or availability, we’ll introduce you by email. This introduction typically includes the flight instructor’s Skyfarer link, where you can review their detailed profiles. With the CFI's permission, we may also include their phone number to help you coordinate more quickly. (In some cases, we may introduce CFIs outside of Skyfarer if they’re a good fit for your needs.)

  • How long should I expect to hear back?
Once you submit the request form and complete payment, our team begins the search right away. In many cases we receive early confirmations within a few hours. Depending on instructor response times, you can generally expect to hear back within one day. Response times may vary, but we’ll keep you informed as we make progress.

  • Who should I contact if I have questions?
You can reach us anytime at support@skyfareracademy.com. We’re happy to help.
