A tailwheel endorsement is required to operate this configuration of aircraft. We will perform normal and crosswind takeoffs and landings, wheel landings, go-around procedures, slow flight, power-on and power-off stalls, steep turns, power-off 180-degree approaches, crosswinds, forward slips and incipient spins with recovery. [Spin Training and Endorsement with UPRT] A spin endorsement is a requirement for all FAA Certified Flight instructors. Obtaining this in a tailwheel aircraft, especially our warbird, is unique. UPRT Training (Upset Prevention and Recovery Training) is a requirement for all airline pilots and becoming very popular for general aviation pilots. From 2010 to 2014, loss of control in-flight represented approx. 30% of fatalities in airlines. UPRT was adopted to address this safety problem. UPRT is intended to provide initial experience of g-forces that could be encountered in aircraft, from approximately -1g to 2.5g, and to help a pilot gain angle-of-attack awareness. The psychological elements of the course include overcoming surprise and startle, developing counter-intuitive recovery skills, and developing self-confidence through upset recovery in a "real-world" environment.
