09/23/25 - Annual inspection accomplished. Installed type "D" oil cooler hoses to eliminate AD 17-14-04, replaced bolts and bushing at RH main gar scissors, replaced LH bottom scissor bolt and bushings, replaced brake discs on both main wheels, replaced nose gear steering rollers, replaced complete exhaust system with Knisley Exhaust, replaced brscat ducting, replaced brake cycling o-rings, replaced brake lining at LH wheel, replaced LH fuel tank drain seal, removed and replaced nose wheel bearings.

The Piper PA-28R-180 Arrow was introduced in 1967 as Piper’s retractable-gear evolution of the Cherokee line. By 1969, the Arrow had firmly established itself as a logical step-up aircraft for pilots transitioning from fixed-gear trainers into complex aircraft operations. The 1969 model retained the clean low-wing Cherokee airframe while adding retractable landing gear and a constant-speed propeller, increasing both performance and training value.

Power is provided by the Lycoming IO-360 engine producing 180 horsepower. Combined with the retractable gear, the Arrow delivers improved cruise performance compared to fixed-gear PA-28 variants while maintaining stable and predictable handling. The aircraft’s straightforward systems make it especially popular for complex endorsement training and commercial pilot preparation.

The cabin seats four occupants and features a practical, comfortable layout similar to other Cherokee models. The low-wing configuration provides stable handling characteristics and good ground visibility during taxi and landing. Many 1969 Arrows have since been upgraded with modern avionics, enhancing their IFR capability and making them capable cross-country aircraft even decades after production.

Within the general aviation community, the Piper Arrow has long been regarded as one of the most common and approachable complex aircraft. It has been widely used in flight schools for advanced training and by private owners seeking a balance between performance and operating simplicity. Damage History:
8/11/1985 - Reported minor damage. Propeller tips struck runway and go around made. Gear had not been extended for landing.
