New Flight Instructor FAQ
Answers to some commonly asked questions from new Skyfarer Academy instructors.
Updated Aug 22, 2024
Congratulations on being approved to teach on Skyfarer Academy! Now that you've completed the instructor application, you might be wondering what’s next. We’ve put together a few commonly asked questions from new instructors below:
How do I list my first listing?
Now that you’re approved, you can click the "Create a Listing" link on the top bar. This will take you to the Listing creation form.
We typically review submissions within 1 business days. It’s not uncommon for first submissions to need some editing. If your listing isn’t published right away, follow the feedback provided by our team. We’re here to help you make your listing the best it can be!
Are there any restrictions on my first Skyfarer Academy listing?
To start, we recommend that you only submit one listing for review. This allows you to learn our standards and approval process. Once your first listing is published, you can request approval for as many listings as you like - the only limit is your imagination!
Please make sure your listing content is aligned with our listing content policy, ensuring it’s objective, secular, and level-appropriate.
How should I price my listing, and how will I be paid?
Instructors set their own prices from the listing edit page. The price you set is for the entire listing, regardless of length, and students pay per session/course. You can experiment with different pricing models to find what works best for you.
We typically suggest a price range of $25-70 per student, per hour spent in the session. However, this is a marketplace, so feel free to adjust prices to suit your flight instruction and training business.
You’ll be paid the full amount within 24-48 hours of the session/course completed. Skyfarer Academy takes a 15% service fee, so you will receive 85% of the enrollment fees. We will pay you via Stripe, so make sure to add a valid Stripe account in your instructor profile.
What should I teach?
Skyfarer Academy offers sessions and courses on a variety of aviation topics. You should teach something you’re passionate about and have expertise in. Use your instructor profile and your session listings to communicate to students why you’re the right instructor for these topics.
If you’re unsure what to teach, we will later issue monthly emails for up-to-date student requests and highest-searched topics. This can help you pinpoint demand and start building your aviation teaching business.
How do online sessions & courses work?
All live meetings will take place through Google Meet, a video chat platform. Most of our sessions and courses are 1-on-1, and Google Meet offers a time limit of up to 24 hours per session. Your focus should be on delivering an excellent flight training and instruction experience!
