Above All Aviation - Flight School

About Time Aviation is a Part 61 general aviation flight school based at Hobby Field Airport (77S) in Creswell, Oregon, serving the Southern Willamette Valley including Eugene, Springfield, Cottage Grove, and surrounding communities. Founded in 2011, the school has operated continuously for over a decade and holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Key contacts include Mark Stroble and Larry Church as school contacts, and Jess Everson as administrator.   The school's training philosophy centers on safety and efficiency, with a stated commitment to helping students reach their aviation goals at a competitive cost an acknowledgment that flying is expensive and that instructor experience matters in keeping students on track. Training programs span the full certificate and rating pathway under Part 61: Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, CFI, CFII, and Airline Transport Pilot. The school is flexible in scheduling and student-paced, consistent with the Part 61 model.   A distinctive offering is the school's Couples/Friends Training program, which allows two students to train together to share costs and maximize flight time an approach few schools formalize, and one that makes aviation more financially accessible in the student community.   The primary training aircraft is the Cessna 172, and the school's instructors have deep familiarity with the Willamette Valley airspace, its characteristic marine layer conditions, and the instrument approaches available at nearby Eugene (KEUG) for advanced training.

Home Airport(s)

Hobby Field Airport (Creswell Airport) ICAO: K77S | IATA: None | FAA LID: 77S   Located one mile northeast of Creswell and approximately nine miles south of Eugene, in Lane County, Oregon. The airport covers 96 acres and sits at an elevation of 541 ft MSL. Publicly owned and open to the public. Tie-downs available for local and transient aircraft; self-serve 100LL fuel on field; small terminal building near transient parking. Major airframe and powerplant repair services available on field.   Runway: Runway 15/33 3,102 ft × 60 ft (asphalt; non-precision instrument markings; MIRL pilot-controlled via CTAF; PAPI on Runway 15; Runway 33 is the calm-wind preferred runway) No control tower. Uncontrolled airspace; CTAF/UNICOM 122.7. Approach/departure services provided by Cascade Approach Control (EUG) or Seattle ARTCC when EUG is closed. RNAV/GPS instrument procedures available.   For flight training, 77S is a well-suited home field. The uncontrolled environment gives students full ownership of traffic awareness and self-announce discipline from their first lesson. The 3,100-foot runway is adequate for the Cessna 172 in training operations, though its relatively short length does mean students develop good short-field technique as a natural byproduct of regular operations. Willamette Valley weather is the defining training characteristic here the Pacific Northwest's marine layer creates regular IMC and marginal VFR conditions, particularly in fall and winter, producing pilots with genuine weather discipline and solid instrument instincts. When conditions are VFR, the valley terrain is scenic and accessible, with the Coast Range to the west, the Cascades to the east, and Eugene's Class C airspace (KEUG, 9 nm north) available for advanced airspace training. Students at 77S also need to develop active awareness of parachute jump operations on field a skydiving operation uses the airport on weekends, with a dedicated jump area on the east side of the field and active Caravan jump aircraft in the pattern.

Additional Notes

About Time Aviation is a well-established, community-embedded flight school in a part of Oregon that doesn't have a large commercial aviation infrastructure making it an important resource for aspiring pilots in the Southern Willamette Valley who want to train locally. The school's longevity since 2011 and its consistent BBS A+ rating reflect operational stability and student satisfaction over time.   The Pacific Northwest weather environment, while challenging, is a genuine training asset. Students who earn their certificates here are typically more comfortable in IMC, more attentive to weather trends, and more conservative in go/no-go decision-making than peers trained exclusively in dry, high-VFR environments. The school's proximity to Eugene (KEUG) and its Class C provides an excellent stepping stone for students advancing beyond the home field's uncontrolled environment.
