Aamro Aviation - Flight School

Aamro Aviation Corp (operating as Aamro Aviation) is a Part 61 and Part 141 flight school headquartered in the West Palm Beach area of South Florida, with two locations: a North location at North Palm Beach County General Aviation Airport (F45) in West Palm Beach, and a South location at Palm Beach County Park Airport (KLNA) in Lantana/Lake Worth. The school also holds SEVIS/M-1 authorization, making it a certified institution for international students seeking FAA pilot certificates in the United States. It was formerly known in part as Platinum Flight Training before transitioning to the Aamro brand.   Training programs span the full professional pilot pathway under both Part 61 and Part 141: Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot License (single and multi-engine), Multi-Engine Rating, CFI, and CFII. The school also offers an integrated Aamro Professional Pilot Training program designed to take students from zero experience to commercial-level credentials in a structured, sequential format. Leadership includes Barry Loomis as Chief Pilot and Director of Operations, with a 1:1 student-to-instructor ratio cited as a core operational commitment. The school reports over 350 successful students and more than 50,000 total flight training hours logged across its history.   Beyond structured certificate training, Aamro offers discovery flights and aerial experience packages for the public, with 45-minute introductory flights available at the Lantana location a community-facing revenue stream that also serves as a student pipeline. The school has been acknowledged in multiple third-party reviews as one of South Florida's better-regarded independent flight schools for quality of instruction, aircraft condition, and instructor professionalism.

Home Airport(s)

North Palm Beach County General Aviation Airport (Primary / North Location) ICAO: KF45 | IATA: None | FAA LID: F45   Located in West Palm Beach, Florida, approximately 22 km south of Jupiter. Opened in 1994 and owned by Palm Beach County. The airport covers 1,832 acres over 1,100 of which are dedicated to environmental preserves and sits at an elevation of 22 ft MSL. It is a designated reliever for Palm Beach International Airport (KPBI) and serves both reciprocating and jet aircraft. FBO is Signature Flight Support.   Runways: Runway 09R/27L 4,300 ft × 100 ft (asphalt; primary paved runway; RNAV/GPS approaches) Runway 14/32 4,300 ft × 75 ft (asphalt; 30,000 lb max weight; RNAV/GPS approaches) Runway 09L/27R 3,679 ft × 75 ft (turf) No control tower. Uncontrolled airspace; CTAF/UNICOM. Noise-sensitive field voluntary noise abatement procedures in effect.   For flight training, F45 offers an excellent combination of usable runway options, low traffic relative to neighboring commercial fields, and proximity to South Florida's diverse airspace. The two paved runways provide wind flexibility and options for crosswind work, while the turf strip is available for pilots seeking soft-field endorsement practice. The surrounding environmental preserve land gives the airport an unusually open, uncongested setting despite its location in one of Florida's most populated counties. South Florida weather provides near year-round flying conditions, and the proximity to Palm Beach International's Class C and Class B areas to the south means advanced students quickly gain exposure to controlled airspace, IFR procedures, and complex routing options.   Palm Beach County Park Airport (Secondary / South Location) ICAO: KLNA | IATA: LNA | FAA LID: LNA Located six nautical miles south of downtown West Palm Beach in Lantana, Florida. Elevation: 14 ft MSL. 304 acres. Three asphalt runways in a triangle layout: Runway 10/28 3,489 ft × 75 ft (longest); Runway 16/34 3,421 ft × 100 ft; Runway 04/22 3,256 ft × 75 ft. All runways have PAPI and asphalt surfaces. No control tower; CTAF 122.70. No landing fees. Noise-sensitive field; jet aircraft prohibited by local ordinance. FBO is Stellar Aviation.   KLNA is one of the busiest general aviation fields in South Florida, averaging well over 300 aircraft operations per day. The triangle runway layout is a particularly useful training environment students must learn to assess and select from three runway options based on wind, and the uncontrolled setting with high traffic density sharpens traffic pattern awareness and self-announce discipline. The proximity to Mar-a-Lago and resulting TFR activity during presidential visits is an operational reality students at this location will encounter.

Fleet and Facilities

Aamro operates a modern, predominantly glass cockpit fleet across its two locations, with all aircraft IFR certified and maintained on a 100-hour inspection cycle.   Cessna 172S Four-seat primary and instrument trainer; 2023 models equipped with Garmin G1000 NXi glass panel, standby Garmin GI 275, and GFC 700 autopilot. Qualifies as a TAA aircraft, meeting the commercial pilot TAA requirement. Used across all training stages from Private Pilot through Commercial.   Piper Archer TX Flagship training aircraft per Aamro's own designation; 180 hp Lycoming fuel-injected engine; Garmin G1000 with GFC 700 autopilot; cruise speed approximately 130 knots; endurance just under 5 hours. Used for Private Pilot through Commercial and IFR training. 2023 models in the fleet.   Tecnam P2006T Twin-engine trainer; two Rotax 912S3 engines at 100 hp each; Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite; maximum cruise speed 146 knots. Used exclusively for Multi-Engine Rating training. One of the more fuel-efficient and cost-effective twin-engine trainers available, and more accessible for transitioning single-engine students than heavier piston twins.   Redbird FMX Full-Motion Simulator (F45 location) FAA-approved full-motion training device with a 3-axis electric motion platform and wrap-around visual display. Available in Cessna 172S G1000/GFC 700 and Tecnam P2006T G1000/S-TEC 55 configurations. Used for instrument training, procedure practice, and scenario-based training. The Redbird FMX is one of the more capable BATDs on the market; its full-motion platform and wrap-around visuals set it above standard desktop simulators in realism and physiological effectiveness.   Rental currency at Aamro requires a checkout flight with an instructor for each make and model, and pilots must fly the specific aircraft type every 30 days to maintain rental currency.

Additional Notes

Aamro Aviation's fleet selection reflects a deliberate, modern approach all glass cockpit, all IFR certified, with no aging steam-gauge aircraft in the active training inventory. The Piper Archer TX as a flagship trainer is a sound choice for a school oriented toward producing commercially viable pilots: it's a robust, well-equipped low-wing platform that prepares students for the type of aircraft commonly used in professional and charter operations. The addition of the Tecnam P2006T as the multi-engine training platform is notable its Rotax engine configuration is more fuel-efficient than traditional piston twins like the Piper Seminole, which can meaningfully reduce the per-hour cost of multi-engine training.
