FAA Wright Brothers “Master Pilot: Work toward flying goals
With over 50 years of aviation experience, I had my first lesson on my 16th birthday and passed my private pilot check ride in 1969 on my 17th birthday. My interest in aviation only grew from there. In 1988, I added instrument and commercial pilot ratings in both single- and multi-engine land. Wanting to share my love of aviation with others, I later earned my CFI in SEL and MEL, along with instrument instructor ratings. I also became an advanced instrument ground instructor. With over 8,000 hours under my belt, many aircraft owners, operators, and former students have referred others to me as the “go-to” CFI over the years. Because of this, referrals have always been the most common way I’ve connected with new students and clients seeking my expertise. A particularly meaningful milestone came in 2019 when I received the prestigious FAA Wright Brothers “Master Pilot” Award for 50 years of accident-, incident-, and violation-free flying. Many of my students have gone on to fly for major air carriers, the U.S. military, or to build successful aviation careers of their own. Nothing has thrilled me more than seeing a young person advance from being landlocked to acquiring the skills and confidence to solo and become a licensed pilot!
