July & August 2026 Updates

This is our first bi-monthly update instead of a monthly one, but don't let the slower cadence fool you. These two months brought some of the biggest ships and strongest numbers since we started Skyfarer. Here's what's new.

1. Our Strongest Performance Yet

July set records across nearly every metric we track:

  • Search visibility: Total Google impressions rose 35% month over month, and clicks from Google Search doubled.
  • Active users: ~10,000 monthly active users, up 70%+ from June.
  • Engagement: Pageviews, listing views, and on-site searches each grew 40 to 50%.
  • Growth: New signups increased 40%. Inquiries and transactions increased 60%.

More pilots are finding Skyfarer, and more of them are reaching out to instructors, schools, and sellers on the platform. If you have listings, this growth is working for you.

2. Flight Training Demand is Accelerating

July 2026 set an all-time record for training inquiries: 8 times the volume of July 2025. August is pacing right behind it. Roughly two-thirds of all inquiries in Skyfarer's history arrived in the last six months.

Who's inquiring:

  • Private pilot: 46%
  • Discovery and first flights: 17%
  • Instrument: 6% · Commercial: 7% · Endorsements: 6% · Other: 14%

That means 63% of demand is early-stage: aspiring pilots or students working toward their first certificate.

The standout stat is urgency. 82% of inquirers want to start within a month, and 47% want to start within two weeks. Only 5% describe themselves as "just researching." They are ready-to-fly students.

3. New Features and Updates

We have shipped a wave of platform updates this summer, many of them shaped directly by your feedback. A few highlights:

  • Multi-location listings: Many providers on Skyfarer operate from more than one ramp, and now listings don't have to stay parked at a single field either. Every listing can include more service locations, each discoverable in local searches around that airport. A CFI teaching out of five airports now appears in searches near all of them, with results showing the full reach at a glance ("+9 more locations"). One listing becomes a regional presence.
  • "Highly Responsive" and "ID Verified" badges: Search results now spotlight providers who answer quickly and have verified their identity. The Highly Responsive badge appears only on listings whose owners consistently reply fast. There's no negative counterpart. It exists to highlight the instructors, schools, and sellers a student can count on hearing back from. ID Verified marks accounts verified through Stripe (Add payout details to get the badge).
  • Message read receipts: Students and providers can now see when a message has been read, with a simple "Read" indicator and date on every thread. No more wondering whether an inquiry was ever seen.
  • File sharing in conversations: Aviation runs on documents: training syllabi, quotes, invoices, endorsements, logbook pages. Conversations on Skyfarer now support file attachments directly in the thread, so you can exchange documents without bouncing to email.
  • One-click FAA registry lookup. Every aircraft-for-sale listing now carries an FAA N-Number Inquiry button that opens the official FAA registry record for that exact tail number. Pre-filled, one click, no retyping.

There's more where these came from. One of our main launch articles covers the highlights: https://skyfareracademy.com/p/press-launch-tracking-dashboard-in-conversation-file-sharing

4. New Category: Aviation Events

Aviation has always run on events, but finding them has meant checking a half-dozen association calendars, club newsletters, and online groups. Aviation Events launches with thousands of events across the US, curated from public aviation calendars, including FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) listings and chapter events nationwide, alongside events posted directly by organizers on Skyfarer.

For organizers and hosts:

  • Free listings, published in minutes. Any organizer, from a two-person chapter to a national association, can post an event at no cost, set an in-person or online format, and go live the same day.
  • Reach beyond the newsletter. Listed events appear in location and date searches, on the map, and in nearby-event suggestions, in front of an audience already looking for places to fly.
  • Built for online events too. Online events carry a clear "Online event" badge, with the option to keep meeting links private until a booking is confirmed.

For pilots and attendees:

  • Events near you, at a glance. An interactive map pairs with a month-at-a-glance calendar showing which days have events, with the soonest events listed first.
  • Search that fits the mission. Filter by event type (airshows, fly-ins, pancake breakfasts, chapter meetings, seminars, FAA WINGS safety events, webinars, networking, and more), plus date range, keyword, and location, right from the Skyfarer homepage.
  • Never miss a date. Add any event to Google, Apple, or Outlook calendars in one click, and save favorites from search results, the map, or the listing itself.
  • Details that matter. Every listing shows the schedule with time zone, venue and address, and the event's website. Past events automatically drop out of view.

5. Featured Partner: Symbiotics

Symbiotics: practice the tests airlines actually use

For career pilots, timing matters. Aptitude and psychometric screening is a standard gate in airline and cadet recruitment, yet most pilots trained through the general aviation pathway encounter it for the first time on the day it counts. Flight instructors building hours toward an airline career, commercial pilots preparing direct-entry applications, and students targeting cadet programs all face assessments they've had little chance to practice.

Pilots spend years preparing for their careers, yet often spend little time preparing for the assessments that decide whether they get the interview.

Symbiotics builds the tests airlines actually use. Giving pilots on Skyfarer a way to practice on the real thing closes a blind spot in the U.S. training pathway. It has delivered assessments to aviation for more than 30 years, completing roughly 11,500 assessments each month across 130+ locations in over 80 countries. Its ADAPT platform is used by airlines, training organizations, and universities worldwide, including a number of U.S. institutions.

Skyfarer readers get 10% off pilot aptitude tests with code SkyFarer10.

Thanks for being part of the Skyfarer community. The demand is here, the platform keeps getting better, and the best is still ahead.
