Acron Aviation Academy, at KSFB

The flight academy at Orlando Sanford International Airport (KSFB) has operated continuously at this location across a succession of corporate owners and brand identities spanning more than four decades. It was most recently known as L3Harris Airline Academy following the 2019 merger of L3 Technologies and Harris Corporation that formed L3Harris. In 2023, L3Harris divested its Commercial Aviation Solutions division which included the pilot training and simulation businesses to private equity firm TJC Partners. The new parent launched the Acron Aviation brand in 2025, taking its name from the ancient Greek word ákron meaning "peak" or "top," and the Florida flight school was rebranded as Acron Aviation Academy. The school's lineage at KSFB extends back through Aerosim Flight Academy and Delta Connection Academy, giving the operation a training heritage at this location spanning more than 40 years. The academy is one of the largest ab initio flight training operations in the United States, operating more than 85 aircraft and marketing over 10 airline career pathway partnerships. The Florida campus address is 1300 E 26th Place, Sanford, FL 32773. Acron Aviation Academy is a Part 141 FAA-approved airline pilot school. Its flagship offering is the Professional Pilot Program, which takes students with no prior experience through all certificates and ratings required to begin a career as a First Officer at a regional or national airline. The program covers Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, Multi-Engine Rating, and Certified Flight Instructor certificates across an integrated curriculum specifically designed to meet airline hiring pipeline requirements. The school also offers an Airline Transport Pilot Certification Training Program (ATP CTP) the mandatory ground school prerequisite for the ATP written examination and a Jet Transition Program for pilots seeking type-specific jet training beyond the Commercial certificate. Financing for training is available at up to 100% of cost through loan providers including Sallie Mae and Stratus Financial. Veterans' GI Bill benefits are accepted. The school's airline career pathway network includes legacy, regional, charter, and cargo carriers. Relationships are maintained with Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and United Airlines through affiliated regional and feeder programs, as well as direct pathway arrangements with carriers including Air Wisconsin, Atlas Air, Avelo Airlines, CommuteAir, Empire Airlines, Envoy Air, Global Crossing Airlines, GoJet Airlines, PSA Airlines, Republic Airways, Silver Airways, SkyWest Airlines, and Spirit Airlines. The EXCEL Scholarship, introduced under the Acron brand, rewards the highest-performing students as measured by ground school exam results, checkride performance, and instructor feedback by covering the cost of either the CFII add-on or Multi-Engine add-on training, reducing financial burden and accelerating the pathway to instructor roles. Student housing options are available near the Sanford campus for out-of-state and international students. The school accepts both domestic and international students, with a dedicated international admissions pathway.
