Hello, my name is Mike and I am a flight instructor (CFI). The point in my life were I really started to learn to fly was in November of 2000. That is when I joined Civil Air Patrol. Two years after that I attended Johnson Flight Academy in Mattoon, IL. While at Johnson I learned how to fly hot air balloons. After I graduated Naperville North High School I attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I studied Aviation Flight & Management. After graduation and at the beginning of Great Recession I was fortunate enough to work for my uncle at Brexis courier. While there I continued my support of Civil Air Patrol, but as a Senior Member. While in CAP I was a member of the Col. Shorty Powers Composite Squadron. After about a year in the squadron I took on the role as Unit commander, participated again at Johnson Flight Academy again only as flight instructor in both powered and G1000 NavIII equipped Cessna 182s, and then became a check pilot and check pilot examiner in 2012. At the end of 2015 I graduated from St Louis University with an MBA. After working as a full time staff instructor at Parks College, and an Independent Flight Instructor at Saint Louis Flight Training, I took a position as a first officer at Trans States Airlines. Trans States Airlines ceased operations as of April 1, 2020.
