CFI, CFII at KPAE
My approach to flight instruction is based on one fundamental rule. It is my job to teach students in a way that they learn best. Getting to know my student’s strengths, challenges and reasons for flying provides me with the additional background to plan for an individualized teaching approach. Instruction isn’t just about meeting the minimum FAA requirements to pass your exam – it’s about forming a strong teaching relationship with students so they can succeed and excel with skills greater than minimum FAA requirements. I want my students prepared for the “expected”; to be able to handle the “unexpected” and have the flying and decision skills necessary to successfully accomplish both. Flying isn’t just about being in the air. Flying is a process that begins on the ground and ends with being back on the ground. Flying requires dedication, the desire to learn, the commitment to being prepared, a bit of money but most importantly, the desire to appreciate being in the air and saying out loud “wow, how great is this.” I own a high-performance, complex aircraft i.e. Cessna TR182 and also have my seaplane rating, multiengine rating and eagerly seek out flying in the clouds using reference to instruments only. My background includes a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, as well as a BA degree in Psychology. I also hold a current California Teaching Credential.
