Former IT Manager turned professional pilot

Former IT Manager turned professional pilot

I learned to fly in college in the pre-GPS days and left with all my ratings and a degree in IT. I pursued IT as a career and taught flying on the side. I left IT in 2021 and am currently a full-time pilot flying business jets while still instructing and mentoring on my time off. While teaching, I integrate the use of technology with the mentoring skills learned by developing and encouraging high-performing employees. My teaching style focuses on precise control (flying the numbers - airspeed, altitudes, procedures) while engaging with you through questions and conversation to fully understand the what and why. My strengths include teaching the details (FARs, technical knowledge, charts), using scenario-based training, safety, and emergencies. I'm a great option for anyone who likes structure and clear communication in their training. I keep my skills current by going beyond simply flying. I am an active participant in the WINGs program & a former WINGS presenter, do at least 1 major training event (such as a new rating, advanced skills training, etc.) each year, and am active in multiple aviation clubs. When I'm not flying, you'll find me traveling, riding my motorcycle, and working outdoors.
